>Gift Alternatives

As I think of Emush’s mother forced to chose between keeping her baby and both of them starving or giving her baby up for them both to have a chance to live, I am convicted of all the time and money I spend on the things of this world that have no spiritual value. I have asked family members to please give to one of their favorite charities in leu of gifts for us during this blessed holiday season. I have also donated to my favorite charities in honor of some of those on my Christmas list. There are so many going without basic NEEDS …

Below are links to some of those we donated to:

*Ahope- we are sponsoring a child for a year at this orphanage for HIV positive children. We just received the picture and information of our sponsored child this week. He is a 9 year old boy and it is such a blessing to have his picture and know his name and to be able to pray for him specifically.

Philip Hayden’s love for the people of China was demonstrated in a quote he kept in his dresser drawer, which said, “The greatest proof of Christianity for others is not how far a man can logically analyze his reasons for believing, but how far in practice he will stake his life on his belief.”

(T.S. Elliot)
